Welcome to a new series!

If you’ve even been here for one post of mine, you know that one of my favorite things to do is make connections between different types of media. That’s why I have my media collections, which are a curated compilation of different book quotes, paintings, song lyrics, and movie scenes pertaining to a specific theme.

Another thing I like doing is pairing song lyrics to paintings. I feel like it adds another dimension to the song, being able to visualize it through a certain painting. So here are some paintings & lyric pairings from my favorite notes entry (I have like…50 more of these, so this is part 1 of an ongoing series!).

File:John Everett Millais - Ophelia - Google Art Project.jpg
Ophelia by John Everett Millais (1852)

The most poetic dream came flowing like the sea
Laying there, my lifeblood draining out of me
A childhood scene, night sky, moon beams
Fishing with my friends, sitting in the wild reeds

—You Missed My Heart, Phoebe Bridgers (cover)

Pie Fight Study 2 by Adrien Ghenie

Oh, I can't seem to let myself leave you
But I can't breathe anymore
Oh, I can't seem to not need to need you
And I can't breathe anymore

—Repeat Until Death, Novo Amor

The Execution of Lady Jane Grey - Wikipedia
The Execution of Lady Jane Grey by Paul Delaroche (1833)

God stood me up
And I don’t know why
The lights are on
But nobody’s home

—Lights Are On, Tom Rosenthal

10 Facts You Don't Know about "The Kiss" by Gustav Klimt
The Kiss by Gustav Klimt (1908)

And I can still see it all in my mind
All of you, all of me intertwined
I once believed love would be black and white
But it's golden.

— Daylight, Taylor Swift
