My comprehensive, hyper-specific seasonal guide for autumn is finally here! This has been a month in the planning, so I’m excited to finally post it. As always, I try to make these guides as exhaustive as possible.

[This post gets cut off on the email, so read it in the app or on your desktop <3]

I already posted the ten books you should read in early fall for my postcard, but I wanted to post a more in-depth, hyper-specific book and movie guide for fall in general, with around 100 book recommendations and 60 movie recommendations for the season.

Here is my (free) post with ten books you should read this autumn!

Here is an overview of a portion of the books I put in my general fall reading guide on my bookstagram:

My hyperspecific fall literature & film guide is slightly different than my summer guide. For summer, I posted books based on location + vibe, but I don’t really associate the autumn months with traveling. So for this, I’ve decided to just do fictional (and real) literary locations from books and very specific feelings for books and movies that I seek out during the fall.

Some categories you can find in this guide are:

  • atmospheric and haunting

  • late summer to early autumn transition

  • gothic classics

  • “sad girl in her twenties”

  • creepy and unsettling

  • beautiful prose

  • campus academia

  • magical realism

  • cozy autumnal

  • stream of consciousness

  • love stories that aren’t romance

  • short story collections

  • writer diaries

  • mysteries & thrillers

I’ve also included paintings, and playlists that feel autumnal and pertain to (almost) each category, on top of the books & movies! I always just stay in during colder months so I wanted to make this as comprehensive and thorough as possible.
